Who was William Wilberforce?
William Wilberforce is often remembered as the leader of the abolitionist movement. He was an MP who fought constantly in Parliament to abolish the slave trade. He tried to pass a bill ending slavery every single year from 1791 until the slave trade was finally abolished in 1807.
