What were the main features of the Peace Policy ?
The Peace Policy had a number of aims:
  • It aimed to remove the corrupt men who currently managed the reservations and replace them with Quakers. It was believed these religious men would be fair, just and peaceful, due to their beliefs.
  • $2 million was put aside to aid and care for the Native Americans on reservations. It was also used to gather up any tribes not yet on a reservation and settle them there.
