Humphry Davy discovered the anaesthetic properties of nitrous oxide, although it was American dentist Horace Wells who first used it as an anaesthetic to extract a tooth.
When was nitrous oxide first used as an anaesthetic?
Nitrous oxide was first used as an anaesthetic in 1844.
