What was the Big Four?
The decision-makers at the Paris Peace Conference of 1919 are sometimes called the Big Four, although it was the Big Three who made most of the decisions.
Who was in the Big Four?
The Big Four consisted of:
  • Woodrow Wilson, the president of the USA.
  • David Lloyd George, prime minister of Britain.
  • Georges Clemenceau, prime minister of France.
  • Vittorio Orlando, prime minister of Italy.
What happened to the Big Four?
The Paris Peace Conference began with the Big Four, which included Orlando of Italy.
  • He demanded the fulfillment of the 1915 Treaty of London, which would give territory from Austria-Hungary to Italy.
  • This was opposed by Wilson, forcing Orlando to walk out of the conference.
